August 2018 – Improving Sleep and Removing Processed Food

#AUGUST8 EXPERIMENT

In the month of August, I decided to run a month long experiment with 2 conditions:

  1. Remove processed foods from my diet for the duration of the of the month.
  2. Work to increase my sleep by going to bed earlier.

A lot of research states that the best way to improve your health is to increase the number of hours you sleep and cut out all of the processed junk (or severely reduce it).

Candy and Soda – 6 Years Free

It has been six years since I have freed myself from the power of Candy and Soda. The endless allure of candy and soda that infects our every waking minute is so ubiquitous that it is considered weird if you turn down office candy or mixed drinks with soda in it.  So 6 years ago in June 2012, I decided that I was finished with candy and soda.

Two Year Fitness Update (2016-2018)

Recently I have crossed the 2-year mark in my fitness update transformation (from May 2016 to May 2018). The purpose of this slow fitness journey is not only to be in better shape but to make better decisions about dieting, my reactions to food and my health overall. My philosophy is to make gradual changes to enforce discipline and to create lasting, life changing habits.

So over the last few years, I have been working out and experimenting with my diet. Recently, in May 2016, I decided to go back to a workout plan that worked for me in 2012. I am also tracking my diet to really reach that goal. This monthly video series will document my progress towards that goal.

And if you want to know exactly why 10% body fat, that’s where you can see a huge change in body composition. You can have a better looking body without making much change to the abs or the chest. You can see an example of different body fat percentages in males below…
